In response to world poverty, many programs have been established to help nations develop their economies, infrastructure, educational and healthcare systems. Some of the most successful have been small, community-based programs that have been implemented by non-governmental organizations or "NGOs". ADRA, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency, has been played a leading role in developing and implementing programs that not only save lives, bring relief to the suffering, but provide hope for the future for millions of poor people around the world.
